The Onshore Partner Visa (Permanent) — Subclass 801 is a permanent Australian residence visa for spouses or de facto partners of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens who applied while in Australia. It is the second, permanent stage of the combined Partner visa process (820/801). Once granted, holders can live, work, and study in Australia without restriction, access Medicare, sponsor eligible relatives, and apply for Australian citizenship after meeting requirements. To be eligible, applicants must continue to be in a genuine relationship and have held the temporary partner visa (Subclass 820) while satisfying health and character standards.
To qualify for a Partner (Permanent) visa, you must currently hold an eligible provisional partner visa or a Dependent Child visa, and be in a lawful spouse or de-facto relationship with an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
